What Is a VAR (Value-Added Reseller)?
A VAR, or value-added reseller, sells vendors' hardware and software but adds value beyond the box - configuration, integration, customization, services and support - so the customer buys a working solution rather than parts. VARs typically represent multiple vendors and sit at the heart of the traditional IT channel.
Why it matters to IT channel partners. VARs are core Rebates-On territory. Because a VAR sells many vendors, each with its own rebate program, targets and portal, the rebate complexity is high and the leakage risk is real. Consolidating every vendor's programs into one partner-side view is exactly the problem rebate management software solves for a VAR.
