Rebate & Incentive Mechanics

What Is a Program Period?

A program period is the defined timeframe over which a rebate or incentive is measured, earned and paid - commonly a quarter, half or full year. Performance resets at the start of each period, and targets, thresholds and tiers apply within it, so the same sales count toward only the period in which they fall.

Why it matters to IT channel partners. The program period sets the clock on every target. Sales that would have crossed a threshold next week are worthless if the period closes first, and a strong run in one period doesn't carry into the next. Knowing each vendor's period boundaries is essential to timing orders and capturing rebates.

Usually no. Performance typically resets each period, so sales count only toward the period they fall in - making period boundaries critical.
