What Is MDF Utilization Rate?

MDF utilization rate is the share of available market development funds a partner actually used and claimed before they expired, calculated as MDF spent and claimed ÷ MDF allocated × 100. A partner allocated $40,000 that spends and claims $26,000 has a 65% utilization rate - and $14,000 forfeited.

Why it matters to partners. MDF is use-it-or-lose-it and tracked across multiple vendor portals, so unused funds quietly expire every quarter. Utilization rate makes that loss visible in one number and by vendor, so you can see where funds are slipping away and act before the spending window closes.

Funds are discretionary, deadline-bound, and spread across portals, so without a single tracker partners lose sight of what is available and let it lapse.
