What Is a CSP (Cloud Solution Provider)?
A CSP, or cloud solution provider, resells, provisions and manages cloud services - infrastructure, platforms and software - for customers, often under a vendor's formal cloud partner program. CSPs handle billing, support and management of cloud consumption, earning margin and incentives based on the cloud their customers use.
Why it matters to IT channel partners. Cloud programs reward consumption, growth and adoption rather than one-off purchases, so a CSP's rebates are recurring and usage-driven - and easy to under-track without the right tools. As cloud becomes a larger share of channel revenue, managing CSP incentives in a partner-side view, alongside other vendor rebates, protects a growing slice of profit.
