Rebate & Incentive Mechanics

What Is a Cap in Rebate Programs?

A cap is the maximum rebate a partner can earn under a program, beyond which additional sales no longer increase the payout. It limits the vendor's exposure and means that once a partner reaches the cap, the marginal value of further qualifying activity in that program drops to zero for rebate purposes.

Why it matters to IT channel partners. A cap changes where a partner's effort is best spent. Once a program is capped out, additional volume earns no more rebate there, so the smart move is to redirect to programs still paying. Partners who don't track caps can keep chasing a rebate they've already maxed.

Additional qualifying sales no longer increase that rebate. It's usually the signal to focus effort on programs that are still paying.
