What Is an Accelerator in Rebate Programs?
An accelerator raises a partner's rebate rate as they cross higher levels of performance - for example, paying a higher percentage on sales above a target, so each additional dollar past the threshold earns more. It rewards the top end of performance and is designed to push partners beyond their baseline goals into overachievement.
Why it matters to IT channel partners. Accelerators make the marginal sale near and past a threshold unusually valuable, sometimes more profitable than the deal that got the partner to the target. Knowing where each accelerator kicks in lets partners decide which late-period orders are worth pulling forward to capture the higher rate.
