Channel Ecosystem & Roles

What Is a Technology Broker?

A technology broker - sometimes called a technology advisor or agent - helps customers source, compare and select technology, connectivity and cloud suppliers, typically earning a commission from the supplier rather than reselling products directly. Brokers act as an intermediary between customers and many vendors or service providers, advising on fit rather than holding inventory.

Why it matters to IT channel partners. Brokers earn through commissions and incentives from the suppliers they recommend, and as the model blends with traditional reselling, the line between commission and rebate income blurs. Brokers who add resale or managed services pick up vendor rebate programs too - income that benefits from the same partner-side tracking as any other channel role.

Usually through commissions or incentives paid by the suppliers it recommends, rather than margin on reselling products directly.
