Channel Ecosystem & Roles

What Is the IT Channel?

The IT channel is the network of intermediary companies - distributors, resellers, VARs, system integrators, MSPs and more - that move technology from vendors to end customers, adding value such as configuration, integration, services and support along the way. Most enterprise hardware, software and cloud is sold through the channel rather than direct.

Why it matters to IT channel partners. The channel is where rebates live. Vendors reward partners for selling, growing and delivering their products, and those rewards flow through every layer of the channel. Understanding the channel's structure - who sits where and who earns what - is the starting point for managing rebate income across the vendors a partner represents.

The channel gives vendors reach, local presence and delivery capacity they couldn't build alone - and partners add the configuration, integration and services customers need.
