Rebate & Incentive Mechanics

What Is a Product Rebate?

A product rebate is a rebate tied to specific products, SKUs or product lines that a vendor wants to promote - often a new release, a strategic line or inventory to move. Only sales of the named eligible products earn the rebate, so the partner's product mix, not just total volume, determines how much they collect.

Why it matters to IT channel partners. Because product rebates depend on selling the right SKUs, a partner can hit overall volume yet miss the product-specific money entirely. Tracking which eligible products are driving rebates - and steering mix toward them where it fits the customer - is how partners capture this layer.

A volume rebate pays on total purchasing; a product rebate pays only on specific eligible products or SKUs.
