What Is a Bill of Materials (BOM)?
A bill of materials (BOM) is the itemized list of every product and SKU in a solution, quote or order - each line, quantity and part number that makes up a deal. In rebate management it provides the line-item detail needed to determine which items are eligible for which vendor's program and how much rebate a deal earns.
Why it matters to partners. Rebates are earned at the SKU and product-family level, not the deal level. Without the BOM, a partner can't tell which lines qualify for a given program, which sit in the right architecture or segment, or what a deal is actually worth in rebate. Reading the BOM against each vendor's eligibility is what makes a per-deal rebate figure accurate.

FAQ
Because eligibility and rebate rates depend on the specific items sold. The BOM gives the line-item detail to apply each program's product rules.
