What Is Vendor Incentive Management?
Vendor incentive management is the vendor-side practice of designing, funding and administering the incentive programs a vendor offers its channel - rebates, SPIFFs, market development funds, co-op and bonuses. It is closely related to channel incentive management (CIM) and sits on the side that pays incentives out, not the side that collects them.
Why it matters to IT channel partners. The term describes what vendors do, and partners benefit from understanding it: the rules, timing and discretion built into these programs are exactly what determines whether you collect in full. Your job is the mirror discipline - capturing every incentive these programs owe you.
