What Is a Front-End Discount?
A front-end discount is a price reduction applied at the moment of purchase or sale - for example, a partner-tier discount or special pricing on a deal - rather than money paid back later. The partner sees the benefit immediately in the cost of goods, with no waiting period, target or claim required to realize it.
Why it matters to IT channel partners. Front-end discounts are simple but they are only part of a partner's margin. The larger, more variable opportunity usually sits in back-end rebates and incentives, which require active tracking. Partners who optimize only the front end leave the harder-to-see back-end money uncollected.
