Rebate & Incentive Mechanics

What Is a Cash Rebate?

A cash rebate is a rebate paid out as actual money - by check, transfer or against an account - rather than as a credit memo, voucher or marketing fund. For a channel partner, a cash rebate is the most directly valuable form of incentive: it lands as income the business can spend, not as a restricted credit tied to future purchases.

Why it matters to IT channel partners. Vendors pay incentives in several forms, and cash is rarely the default - much value arrives as credit memos, MDF or vouchers with strings attached. Knowing which programs pay cash, and confirming the cash actually arrived in full, is central to managing rebate income rather than assuming it.

For most partners, yes - cash is unrestricted income, while a credit memo can only be applied against future purchases with that vendor.
