Partner Programs & Tiers

What Is a Partner Program?

A partner program is the structured framework through which a vendor recruits, enables, rewards and manages its channel partners - defining the tiers a partner can reach, the requirements to reach them, and the benefits and incentives unlocked at each level, including rebates, MDF, discounts and support. It is the rulebook that governs how a partner earns from a vendor.

Why it matters to IT channel partners. Every vendor a partner sells has its own program, with its own tiers, targets, certifications and incentives. Each program is a set of rules that decides how much the partner earns - and most partners track them inconsistently across portals and spreadsheets. Understanding and actively managing every program is how a partner captures everything it is entitled to. See all your programs at once in Rebates-On.

How it works in vendor programs. A typical program sorts partners into tiers (often "good, better, best"), gated by revenue targets, certifications, or both. Higher tiers unlock richer rebates, better discounts, MDF, deal registration, and support such as a dedicated account manager. Benefits and incentives are the levers that drive partner behavior, and the rules can shift each program year, so the framework needs ongoing attention.

Where partners lose money. Misreading a program's rules, missing the targets that hold a tier, letting certifications lapse, or failing to claim the incentives a tier entitles you to. Across many programs, the gaps multiply.

Example. A partner sells five vendors, each with its own program. One program's rebate quietly steps up at a tier the partner is $20,000 of purchasing away from reaching - a target worth managing toward, if anyone is tracking it.

Tiers are the levels within a program; see partner tier for how they work and what they unlock.
