What Is Data Normalization (Rebates)?

Data normalization is the process of converting data from many sources - each vendor's own formats, field names, SKUs, date conventions and currencies - into one consistent structure. In rebate management it is what lets a partner compare programs, run calculations, and present every vendor in one common language on a single dashboard.

Why it matters to partners. Raw vendor data does not line up. One calls it a "part number," another a "SKU"; one reports in units, another in dollars; periods and product groupings differ. Without normalization there is no apples-to-apples view and no reliable rebate calculation. Normalization is the unglamorous step that makes the multi-vendor dashboard and the order simulator trustworthy.

No. Ingestion brings the data in; normalization makes the ingested data consistent so it can be used together.
